Swap Protection

Last updated: September 2026

SWAP Protection is designed to give buyers and swap partners confidence when transacting on the Platform. This page explains, at a general level, what SWAP Protection covers, what it does not cover, and how to request help if something goes wrong.

What SWAP Protection Covers

SWAP Protection is intended to cover transactions completed entirely on the Platform, including:

  • Items that arrive significantly different from how they were described in the listing.
  • Non-delivery of an item after payment or a confirmed swap has been completed on-platform.

What SWAP Protection Does Not Cover

SWAP Protection has limits. It generally does not cover:

  • Trades or payments arranged outside the Platform, even if the parties met through SWAP.
  • Items that were altered, used, or modified after an in-person inspection and acceptance.
  • Buyer's remorse on an item that matched its listing description.

How to File a Claim

If something goes wrong with an on-platform transaction, use the Open Dispute option on the relevant transaction to start a claim. Provide as much detail and supporting information as you can, such as photos, messages, and tracking information, so we can evaluate your claim efficiently.

The Review Process

Once a dispute is opened, our team reviews the information provided by both parties, which may include listing details, messages, photos, and shipping records. We aim to reach a fair outcome within a reasonable review period, and we may ask either party for additional information during that time.

Staying Protected

The best way to stay covered by SWAP Protection is to keep your entire transaction, including payment and communication, on the Platform. Moving a deal off-platform removes the protections described here.
